As a special preview of the LA Baby Show, coming up on the weekend of November 5-6, we have interviewed or profiled many of the Show’s vendors and participants. You can read all about them on this Show blog, but of course the real fun is experiencing the Baby Show in person.
Tickets to the Baby Show are $30 per family, and $20 per individual, and can be purchased here.
The modern parent needs a stroller to do more than just carry their child. It doubles as a purse, backpack, smartphone holder and more. At the forefront of innovation in the stroller game is Bugaboo, a leader in versatile and quality strollers.
We spoke with Jeni Thomas, a member of the Bugaboo team, to learn more.
For someone unfamiliar with Bugaboo, how would you describe the company’s mission and core offerings?
Bugaboo is a global mobility company whose products invite people to explore and move freely through their world. Driven by design, we seamlessly integrate form and function into our iconic strollers.
What’s the background of the company? When did it start? How has it evolved over time?
Bugaboo was founded by designer Max Barenbrug and physician Eduard Zanen in 1999. With a mission to bring freedom of movement to today’s parents, Bugaboo revolutionized the stroller industry through its distinctive design of the world’s first modular stroller.
As a result, the Bugaboo Frog was created and introduced to the world in 2001. The Bugaboo Frog was the first stroller to feature a parking brake on the handlebar, swivel wheels for easy 360o rotation, and an enhanced suspension system. In 2005, the brand launched its iconic product – the Bugaboo Cameleon – which was designed as the all-in-one stroller providing parents with a new effortless way to explore the world with their family.
Today, we offer a range of strollers to meet every lifestyle from city to all-terrain. We also listen to our consumers and answer the evolving needs of modern parents.
What are the most popular and newest products/features from Bugaboo?
In September, Bugaboo introduced the new Bugaboo Cameleon³ Elements, inspired by natural elements like the sea, wind and rocks. The Bugaboo Cameleon³ Elements is a luxurious, limited edition version of the original all-in-one stroller, reimagined in new colors, soft materials and special details that are all inspired by nature. Comfort for your child meets style for you; it’s perfect for trips through the city, woods and beach.
Also new this fall, is the Bugaboo Donkey Weekender. The convertible stroller has a new look and comes with a detachable, stylish side luggage bag which can carry up to 22 lbs. and be used independently. Combined with the under seat basket, the Bugaboo Donkey Weekender has a total of 44 lbs. storage. Comfortable, functional and elegant, the Bugaboo Donkey Weekender comes with a blue-grey outer fabric, casual grey jersey lining, cognac hand-stitched faux leather handlebar and carry handle, and matching details on the sun canopy. The Bugaboo Donkey Weekender can also be converted from a mono to a full side-by-side duo or twin stroller with the beautiful coordinating duo and twin extension sets.
The new and improved Bugaboo Organizer is designed for parents who want to keep all their personal items organized and accessible. Easy to use and beautifully designed, the multi-pocket stroller organizer doubles as handy mini tote bag.
Stay connected anytime, anywhere with the Bugaboo Smartphone Holder. Designed to keep your smartphone within reach, the Bugaboo Smartphone Holder’s convenient click & go system lets you easily mount your smartphone on the handlebar of any Bugaboo stroller. It is universally compatible and securely holds any smartphone in place. Parents can adjust their screen thanks to the 360° rotating ball joint. Navigating, taking photos, tracking workouts or listening to music – while exploring the world with their child – is now easier than ever.
What sets Bugaboo apart from other baby strollers companies on the market?
Designed for everyday use, Bugaboo strollers are built to last for a newborn through toddler years and can be customized to suit your needs, style or journey allowing baby to face the world or their parents. Bugaboo turns burdens into blessings through unexpected, yet useful features found in all of their strollers.
We also enjoy hearing our consumers’ stories as we most recently launched a year-long initiative called The One to celebrate the Bugaboo Cameleon³ – the most versatile stroller that is loved by parents around the globe and that defined the premium stroller category. The brand will look back at Bugaboo’s rich design heritage, and honor the Bugaboo Cameleon owners of the past and present. Since its release, over one million children worldwide have enjoyed their journey in a Bugaboo Cameleon. To support this initiative, Bugaboo will share milestone brand stories, exclusive content on the brand’s online lifestyle magazine, The Journal, and feature families, friends and fans who have all loved the Bugaboo Cameleon.
