We spoke with Lauren Logan, the store’s owner to learn more about the brand and what new parents can expect at the LA Baby Show.
For someone unfamiliar with Juvenile Shop, how would you describe the store’s mission and core offerings?
The best way I would describe my store is warm and welcoming. We help make new parents feel comfortable. There is a lot to learn if you have never shopped for baby and having all the best products there to touch and feel makes it easier for new parents to understand. We have 40 years of experience in helping new parents figure out what’s best for them. Our strengths are furniture and gear. We have a wide selection of furniture lines that is very trend-conscious. We cover the gambit of price ranges. People love our selection of gliders. We also have an interesting selection of toys and gifts. Soft, cute and comfy is the best way to describe our clothes. We try and be a one-stop shop with most things baby needs in that first year.
Tell us about the store’s background. When did it start and how has it evolved since then?
The original Juvenile Shop was established in 1938. My grandfather bought that first location in 1964. We used to have Sunday dinners above the store where my grandparents lived. The store we are currently in was purchased by my family in 1978. I walked in during the summer of 1979 and told my mom I would work for her for the summer. The rest, as they say, is history. My passion for my store is still huge. My mom retired 20 years ago, but she still hears all about the store every day.
