For someone unfamiliar with Ma Yoga, how would you describe the company’s mission and core offerings?
Ma Yoga is a community of prenatal and mom yoga teachers, birth and parenting experts, and moms and moms-to-be. We are passionate about providing guidance, support, and inspiration for moms and moms-to-be.
What is the background of Ma Yoga? When did it start, and how has it evolved since then?
Jessica Jennings, MS, started Ma Yoga after creating a prenatal curriculum at Kaiser where she developed and ran a group visit and prenatal yoga program for 7 years. She saw how it not only helped people relieve their aches and pains, calmed them down and prepared them for labor, but the yoga also helped them connect to their innate wisdom, power, and nurturing energy.
What are the most popular and/or newest services or classes from Ma Yoga?
We offer prenatal yoga at over ten locations in Los Angeles, South Bay, and Orange County. Our classes are at non-studio locations – usually pregnancy or mom-related businesses that are set up to support mamas. We also offer Mom + Baby yoga at some of our locations, so women can come back and introduce baby to their friends while getting their bodies back.
What sets Ma Yoga apart from other parenting communities?
Ma Yoga is a unique system of prenatal yoga based on alignment principles that are not only therapeutic for the body, but help us access strength. It is not gentle yoga! It works out our muscles as we move them in the direction that gives baby lots of space to grow, and help us carry baby – inside and out.
