Tell us about Regal Lager’s background. When did Regal Lager start and how has it evolved since then?
Regal Lager was founded in 1991 by a married couple, Bengt Lager (a Swede) and Luanne Whiting-Lager (an American who has lived several years in Sweden with Bengt). From the beginning, the business was run out of the basement of their home in Marietta, GA. The Lagers attended their first trade show that same year, and since then, they have grown their business, have accumulated a hardworking and enthusiastic group of 18 employees in Kennesaw, GA, and have had numerous exhibits at trade and consumer shows. They have also built an amazing group of sales representatives, calling on retailers and other outlets all over the nation. Since 1991, Regal Lager has been in several offices and is currently in a modern, beautiful, and spacious office with a big warehouse on the premises. The feel of Regal Lager is “family” rather than “corporate.”
The idea of starting a business in the juvenile products industry began when the Lagers had their first child in Stockholm, Sweden. From the positive feedback they received from friends and family members in the United States, they decided to bring some well-designed baby products they had found in Sweden over to the U.S. However, it wasn’t until the birth of the couple’s second daughter—three years later—that the decision was made to take action and move to the United Sates to start a business in the basement of their home.
What started out as a small, family-owned business grew larger, and they began building quality brands from around the world. “Family” is probably the very best way to describe what we do here at Regal Lager–from the ownership, to the esprit de corps of the company’s employees, to our “family” of quality brands, to our “family” of retailers, and to our commitment to all of our consumers and their families. The feel of Regal Lager is truly “family” rather than “corporate”; we hear that from visitors all the time.
What are the most popular and newest products from Regal Lager?
We have a LOT of news coming this year. We’re launching two new brands, but information about those products are under lid for a while.
Among the current, most popular brands we distribute is the Love To Dream™ brand. This Australian company’s swaddles are all part of an excellent sleep system from newborn to 36 months. Swaddles and sleep bags are easy and safe to use, and have substantial advantages compared to traditional swaddling with blankets. You swaddle correctly every time; it makes a huge difference. Babies also want to have access to their hands so they can self soothe. As we all know, almost all babies sleep with their arms up, and babies want to have access to their hands, something that is possible thanks to the “arms up” design. Thus, the name “Swaddle UP.” The big news from Love To Dream™ is the launch of a designer collection.
The collection features new, amazing patterns and qualities. Big favorites with new moms will be the “Starry Night” and the “Kisses” patterns, as well as the very lite, comfortable bamboo fabric in the “Ocean Triangle” swaddle. The Dékor diaper pail is also a big seller, now available in three different sizes and many colors. Being a distributor of all our brands to the U.S. market, we also make Dékor and Lascal available to consumers in Canada.
What sets Regal Lager apart in the baby and child product marketplace?
We are known to be honest, trustworthy, and dependable. We often get approached by manufacturers who want us to represent them in the U.S. market. They often come to us on recommendations of other retailers and brands who describe our reputation as transparent, hardworking, and nice to work with.
Throughout the years, we have worked with so many wonderful companies, including brands, manufacturers, and all the retailers we have served for many years. Our sales team is always watching out for the stores we work with and our customer care department is known to provide good service at all times. When Regal Lager represents a brand, retailers and others know the quality of the brand and products is going to be high. We would never represent a brand or product we are not able to stand 100% behind.
