For someone unfamiliar with Bugaboo, how would you describe the company’s mission and core offerings?
Bugaboo is a global mobility company whose products invite people to explore and move freely through their world. Our products offer a smooth ride, smart design, and extraordinary value. We pride ourselves on seamlessly integrating form and function into our iconic strollers. We are also well known for doing design collaborations and special edition strollers and have previously worked with Missoni, the Andy Warhol Foundation, and Diesel, to name a few.
What’s the background of the company? When did it start? How has it evolved over time?
Bugaboo was founded by designer Max Barenbrug and physician Eduard Zanen in 1999. With a mission to bring freedom of movement to today’s parents, Bugaboo revolutionized the stroller industry through its distinctive design of the world’s first modular stroller.
As a result, the Bugaboo Frog was created and introduced to the world in 2001. The Bugaboo Frog was the first stroller to feature a parking brake on the handlebar, swivel wheels for easy 360o rotation, and an enhanced suspension system. In 2005, the brand launched its iconic product – the Bugaboo Cameleon – which was designed as the all-in-one stroller providing parents with a new effortless way to explore the world with their family.
Today, we offer a range of strollers to meet every lifestyle from city to all-terrain. We also listen to our consumers and answer the evolving needs of modern parents.
What are the most popular and newest products/features from Bugaboo?
In March, we released the Bugaboo Bee5, the latest and greatest edition of our popular Bee stroller. The Bee is our urban stroller, perfect for the NYC parent always on the go. For the Bee5, over 100 parts were improved from the Bee3. It features an even more comfortable seat and smoother ride. Besides the improved function, it received a style revamp, with the ability to now completely customize your stroller to show your individual style. There are all new fabrics including solids, mélanges, and prints, plus changeable faux leather grips and wheel caps in different colors.
We also released the Cameleon3 Kite in March. This special edition stroller features a special balsam green fabric, printed canopy lining, and peekaboo window.
In April, we launched a limited edition collaboration with French street artist Niark1 called Monsters on the Move. The collection includes tailored fabric sets and sun breezy canopies for each of our stroller models, as well as a foot muff. It features playful, colorful monster designs that appear on the outsides and insides of the canopies, so children can be stimulated and entertained as they ride along throughout the day.
As of last September, our inline Cameleon3, Donkey, and Buffalo come standard with a black faux leather handlebar and carry handle, previously only a feature of our special editions, which our clients have been very excited about.
What sets Bugaboo apart from other baby strollers companies on the market?
Designed for everyday use, Bugaboo strollers are built to last for a newborn through toddler years and can be customized to suit your needs, style or journey allowing baby to face the world or their parents. Bugaboo turns burdens into blessings through unexpected, yet useful features found in all of their strollers.
